{"id":2484,"date":"2021-02-07T09:49:14","date_gmt":"2021-02-07T08:49:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/freerohingyacoalition.org\/en\/?p=2484"},"modified":"2021-02-07T09:49:15","modified_gmt":"2021-02-07T08:49:15","slug":"free-rohingya-coalition-condemn-myanmar-coup-and-support-the-emerging-popular-anti-dictatorship-movement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/freerohingyacoalition.org\/en\/free-rohingya-coalition-condemn-myanmar-coup-and-support-the-emerging-popular-anti-dictatorship-movement\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Rohingya Coalition condemn Myanmar Coup and support the emerging popular anti-dictatorship movement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Free Rohingya Coalition condemn Myanmar Coup and support the emerging popular anti-dictatorship movement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7 February 2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">London &amp; Frankfurt:&nbsp; The Free Rohingya Coalition, an international network of Rohingya refugee activists and international human rights activists and scholars, wholeheartedly support the democratic aspirations of Myanmar\u2019s diverse peoples, both majoritarian Buddhist Burmese and other national minorities.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We join hands with all Myanmar peoples in their struggle to end 58-years of military repression, crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We unequivocally condemn the coup of 1 February led by the Tatmadaw leadership of Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Tatmadaw or military have blocked Myanmar\u2019s public democratic aspirations since 1962, while committing international crimes against national minorities including Karen, Kachin, Shan and Rohingya people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The coalition therefore encourages the emerging anti-coup movement to embrace an all-inclusive vision of human rights and the Union of Myanmar and oppose to the ethno-centric, exclusionary, bigoted and divisive form of nationalism which the coup-making Tatmadaw has promoted through decades of racist propaganda. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have received many requests from Myanmar activists to campaign for the ICC to take action against the Burmese generals for staging the coup on 1 February.&nbsp; Unfortunately, there is no international law against which coup-makers can be criminally prosecuted.
